The Change Record

Competitor Page History and Screenshots

Anyone can tell you what a competitor's page says today. Magdox can show you what it said in March, next to what it says now, with both dates on screen.

The problem

Competitive claims decay quietly. A battlecard says a competitor has no SSO, a rep repeats it on a call, and nobody knows the page changed six weeks ago. When someone finally asks "are we sure?", there is nothing to check: the old page is gone, screenshots live in someone's downloads folder, and an AI assistant can only read the page as it is today because it was not watching it in March. The disagreement gets settled by whoever sounds most confident.

How Magdox solves it

Every page you track is checked on a schedule and every result is recorded, including the checks where nothing moved. When a page does change, the new version is captured as both text and a full-page screenshot. Open the Timeline tab on any competitor and you get the whole run of changes in order; open one and you get the two versions side by side, the screenshot of each, and the exact lines that differ. Both dates are on screen, so the answer to "when did that change?" is something you can point at rather than something you assert.

What’s included

Any two dates, side by side

Pick a change and see the page before it and after it, with the capture time on both. The text diff highlights the lines that moved and the screenshots show what a visitor actually saw, so a layout change that says nothing new is as visible as a price that doubled.

Full-page screenshots, not just text

Pages are rendered in a real browser at a fixed width and captured top to bottom, so a pricing table built by scripts after the page loads is in the picture. Screenshots are taken when the content actually moves rather than on every check, which is what keeps a year of daily checks small.

The quiet periods are evidence too

Every check is written down, including the ones that found nothing. That turns "they have not touched their pricing since January" from a hunch into a record with dates on it, which is the half of the story a change feed alone cannot tell you.

History from before you arrived

Add a competitor and we recover what history of their pages already exists from public web archives, so the timeline starts with months of context instead of an empty screen. Recovered entries are text and structure only and are labelled as recovered, because an archive stores the page rather than a picture of it.

Scoped to the part that matters

Narrow a watch to one region of a page, like the pricing table, and set patterns to ignore, so a rotating testimonial or a timestamp in the footer never reads as a pricing change.

How far back depends on your plan

Watch keeps ninety days of change history, Track keeps two years and Panel keeps it without a limit. The capture and the side-by-side view work the same on every plan; the plan decides how far back the timeline goes.
